This is actually not the dominant strategy. everyone just spams buildings and sells excess stone and iron to spam horses. Multiplayer: no one wants to play with no market. TBH seems like they did the trick where they release an unfinished game and that is why people dont like it. TBH the best content of the game and bug fixes happened after the game was released and in the DLC. The DLC missions and warlords are way cooler. I do like how the missions on the DLC campaigns added side objectives and time constraints. Single: some of the campaigns involve very little buildings and are just siege missions and capture the warlords in the area missions. This is a lot of content because it is so difficult it will take time to beat. Now single player, the final skirmish trail is insanely challenging, and if one wanted to prep for multiplayer, they should play this campaign on hard using methods people use in multiplayer. I also have enjoyed playing with no market at all and forcing players to fight over warlords. I have enjoyed how having different warlords in different locations on the map makes for good grand strategy variety in multiplayer. Its too much work for the computer if they want good graphics (thats why they got rid of the wildlife). As far as multiplayer, I am enjoying it, but I like how with crusader you can build on the whole map and secure resources that way. The religion and housing system are greatly improved over crusader, some complain the food system is uninteresting, but they added a whole production chain: clothes, which is the same as bakeries in crusader. TBH I played crusader extreme as a kid and I think it is much better, graphics and otherwise.

The AI makes grand strategy decisions that make sense (it knows when it must capture something or lose the game, and if you hide a trebuchet in a warlord near it, it knows to fling everything it has at it. I noticed that like cold war crisis, on extreme the AI shifts strategies and adapts to what im doing quite well.

Doesnt prioritize which unit type to aim at. Doesnt go out for trebuchets until they start shooting. The AI still never retreats when it looses siege equipment or in general, and it doesnt come out of the castle when you are marching towards it only till you get too close. They have fixed a lot of balancing and AI issues since launch. If this released when Crusader 2 did, after SH3 since i do know Crusader 2 is still generally liked, it would have farred far better but again, for me that doesnt stop me.

For me this has given me hope Firefly can actually make a product But if thats the issue, then yeah Warlord only made the series back to how it was, pretty good, but ultimately its new additions are nothing to what SH2, and even to mention, SH3, bar it being much less rough than both. But yeah think i always said this was like a 8, maybe truly a 7 at launch but in this series i think at point they left this, 8 is something ill gladly give it, maybe 7 is more deserved but again its still better than Legends, which i also think is good either way so its absolutely fine.īut ill be completely honest, if the complaint is that this game came too late, then fine. Completely changing estates to Warlords is annoying, i really enjoy Warlords but we didn't need estates gone even if their Crusader 2 form is too limited. 8 is fine and they actually all do much better job at living, even without Cheats in fact only Thuc Phan and Genghis are AI's id call easy since they use trash units. Also while AI is genuenly economic side good, 4 at launch was stupid. Still i am suprised how game launched with very few maps, performance issues and limits being low That still strikes me that Firefly allowed that which FPS was only a partial problems for C2, its now at better state than C2 but its very weird. I wouldn't still rate it above SH2 or SH1 but Legends, 3 and C2, very good. Honestly now with price cut being at 50%, this is far better than Crusader 2 ever was and is a really fun Stronghold game. Along with polish from weird launch performance issues and lack of maps is, not entirely midigated but there have been very well done. And employing long cut stuff like Fear Factor is, good. A lot of fun units and more of them having abilities is fun especelly gunpowder stuff i hope we get like late medieval period with more guns because it is fun. You can change game limits, don't know if there is a hard limit but SP can be anyhting you want if you edit config files and thats super fun.

AI has seen major improvements across the board any general bugs and annoyances from Crusader 2 that existed just don't. To be fair i think it got equielent content to Crusader 2 just in a way shorter time, and as i think they just have like 3 other games they work on and they just wanted to throw it out there as quickly as possible.īut im much happier than i was with Crusader 2.
